It all opens up again for the Bow Valley snowboarding community today! Lake Louise and Norquay are kicking it off with their opening day which promises to be pretty awesome. Sunshine will follow in weeks to come with their opener as well. Being such an occasion we put together this short video of our best moments from last season to give you an idea of what is to come during this winter, and get you excited for the months ahead! Enjoy, and happy boarding!
Yesterday a group of skateboarders and spectators alike gathered at the Banff Skatepark to have a session and celebrate the life of a dear friend to Banff, Eric Micheal Hughes. The Dancing Sasquatch put up 500 big ones to reward some of the standout skateboarding of the day. Rude Boys, The Meatbeal, Hoodoo Lounge, and P.I. also showed their support providing us with more prizing and delicious hot dogs for the day. It was more than a success and we would like to thank everyone who took part in the day, see ya next time! Check out photos from the sessionĀ HERE on Tucky’s blog.

This is a video that we entered in a local “Short Video” contest in Banff last Thursday. We had a ton of fun making it and as much fun getting wasted the night it got played. The whole idea behind it was our perfect day shredding at the mountain with our buds. This is pretty much how we see most days in our area.. couple slashes, a few bonks and ruts, and some rad park laps. We ended up with a 2nd place finish for the event…. they rewarded us with $100 dollars which went straight back to the bar in the form of shots and beer. Thanks to every one that helped out and those who held the event. We will post some of the other contestants videos in the days that follow.
Tucky Tuckerman has donated his slideshow from the Photographer Showdown for all of you whom missed out to see. Thanks to Tucky for putting everything he could into shooting local Banff spots with local Banff riders… despite the harsh shooting conditions during the contest.
Thursday night was crazy! Thank you to everybody for coming out and supporting your local scene. Huge thanks to all of our sponsors, competitors, riders, and everyone else involved. The slideshows were fantastic and showed so many different aspects of snow activity. So after taking them all in and getting hammered here are the results and some photos from the event!
1st – Reuben Krabbe
2nd – Kelly Schovanek
3rd – Chris Messervey
Honorable mention to Tucky Tuckerman, Devon Gamble, and Scott Dermott their slideshows were so well done and the photography was amazing. Thanks so much for taking part in the 1st Annual Photographer Showdown. More photos in the Lifestyle section of our Photo page!
